Informatix Software International unveils a new generation of Application Development Kits (ADK)
Cambridge, UK – 3rd May 2010, Informatix Software International (ISI), the authors of both MicroGDS and the world-leading 3D visualisation software Piranesi 2010, announces the release of a new generation of Application Development Kits (ADK) for both existing users and new application system developers.
“With over fifteen years experience of supplying fully integrated CAD/BIM solutions to the global
AEC market,” said Mr Paul Lloyd, Head of Global Operations, “we are very aware that the internal business processes and methodologies adopted by each of our customers are often very different. We are equally aware that for the historical reasons of cost, time, and quality assurance that many organisations have had to take a “best fit” approach to matching their preferred operational procedures against those imposed by a packaged software solution. The MicroGDS ADK now offers our own customers and independent Software Developers alike, a completely new approach to resolving this conundrum.”
“In today's world of Software Development the dominant application development environment is .NET,” said Mr Steve Evans, Managing Director, “and Microsoft's Developer Studio is the flagship programming tool. .NET allows businesses to program in the language of their choice whilst working with any CLI (Common Interface Library) code. The ADK's adoption of this technology as its core has uniquely introduced .NET's integration into the worlds of CAD, BIM and MicroGDS.”
The ADK is a class library that describes the heart of MicroGDS. It includes member functions to work with MicroGDS data objects, to find them within existing data files, and to open, read and write MicroGDS data files. The ADK is available in two forms:
The Integrated ADK: Standard in all new MicroGDS implementations, the Integrated ADK now revolutionises the way that our customers can quickly and easily customise their MicroGDS application software to meet their exact requirements. Complex repetitive procedures can now be reduced to a simple button push, ensuring quality through corporate standards, and high productivity gains!
The Standalone ADK: Takes the application development story yet another step forward, enabling customers or developers to write programs that run independently of any running MicroGDS environment. As an example, the free “MicroGDS Viewer” is a standalone ADK developed application. This viewer allows (security checked) external and non-direct staff to monitor a project's status from any system anywhere in the world.
The ADK is going to revolutionise the speed and cost of developing new applications that want to reference and use geometric and terrain data as part of their mission.
