MicroGDS 2010 in Building Products

Introduction

Based on core MicroGDS technology, and taking advantage of the powerful SQL database, Informatix customers such as Hunter Plastics, Marley Extrusions, Durapipe UK, and Wavin Plastics, who’s key business marketplace is Building Products Supply have adapted the power and flexibility of the kernel application suite to deliver key strategic functionality to their businesses.

The processes that are encompassed within this strategic functionality include the conversion of a practically limitless range of customer architectural plan and drawing formats into an internal common format, the quick and easy overlaying of the converted plan with the relevant product design solution, and the automation of the downstream production of a number of key documents and data feeds such as Parts Lists, Quotation Schedules and Installation Drawings.

Operational functionality narrative:

Architectural Plans and drawings from an extremely large range of different clients are transferred into the MicroGDS drawing database after translation from their third party format e.g. DWG or from an industry neutral format such as DXF.

The drawings are consolidated in the drawings database and nominally referenced by Project.

MicroGDS created objects, such as a “Selected Standard Bath Configuration”, or MicroGDS created objects, which consist of lower level (even single part numbered items) sub-assemblies or assemblies that are grouped together to create a much larger “Customised Configuration”,  are placed in-situ on the Project drawing(s).

Created from these Project Drawings are both “Field Installation Drawings” and data feed (e.g. Excel) files for downstream Stock-Picking Lists, Quotations, Costing and Margin Analysis.
